To request an urgent appointment for today or tomorrow (Monday to Friday)

  • Phone us 01271 376655, Monday to Friday, 8am to 6.00pm.
  • Visit the surgery and speak with a receptionist. We are open Monday to Friday, 8am to 6.00pm.

When you get in touch, we’ll ask what you need help with.

For URGENT matters, these will be dealt with by our Urgent Care Team. This means if your need is urgent, you will be put on a list for a same day telephone call back from the Urgent Care Team which is a mixture of GP, Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Pharmacist & Health Care Assistant.

The call back will be between 8am and 6pm.

If you need to be seen face to face, the clinician will arrange this when they call.

To request a routine appointment

  • Use your NHS account (on the NHS website or in the NHS app).
  • Use an online form to request an appointment. Available Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm. We will respond by the next working day.
  • Use your Systmonline account
  • Phone us 01271 376655 Monday to Friday, 8am to 6.00pm.
  • Visit the surgery and speak with a receptionist. We are open Monday to Friday, 8am to 6.00pm.
  • Use the NHS App to book a screening test or vaccination.

When you get in touch, we’ll ask what you need help with.

Routine telephone appointments can be booked up to six weeks in advance with the GPs.

Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Pharmacist, Practice Nurses, Health Care Assistants and Phlebotomists routine appointment are bookable up to six weeks in advance. The surgery runs routine surgeries everyday. You can request either a telephone call or a face to face appointment.

Warfarin appointments are now available to book online via SystmOnline.

With the exception of emergencies please ring before 12pm for a morning call back and by 6pm for an afternoon call back.

However you choose to contact us we may offer you a consultation:

  • by phone
  • face to face at the surgery
  • on a video call
  • by text or email.

Appointments by phone, video call or by text or email can be more flexible and often means the doctor or nurse can help you sooner.

Cancelling or changing an appointment

Home visits

If possible please try to telephone reception before 11am if you require a home visit.

You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will only visit you at home if he or she thinks that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed.

You can be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.

If you need help when we are closed

If the situation is an emergency or life threatening, dial 999 and ask for an ambulance.

For urgent medical advice between 6.30pm and 8.30am weekdays, or during weekends and Bank Holidays, use NHS 111.

For children under 5 phone 111.

For people aged 5 and over go to the 111.nhs.uk website.

Extended hours

We offer an Extended Hours surgery on Mondays from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. This surgery is specifically for patients who are unable to visit us during our normal working hours. The surgery is for pre-bookable GP appointments only and any patients needing to see a doctor urgently should still call the Out of Hours service, NHS 111.

The practice is also part of an Extended Access Services alliance offering more flexible appointments for our patients across other GP surgeries in Bideford, Northam, Torrington, Hartland and Barnstaple. The extended access hours include 8 to 8:30am and 6:00 to 8:30pm and also at weekends. The appointments are pre-bookable and are available with a GP, Nurse or Health Care Assistant, depending on the type of care you require.

If you need help with your appointment

Please tell us:

  • If you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, face-to-face, by video call or by text or email.
  • If you need an interpreter.
  • If you have any other access or communication needs.
  • If you would like a chaperone present during your consultation, please advise the receptionist or doctor when booking your appointment or when checking in.
