As a practice we are committed to the constant development and improvement of healthcare and services through evidence based clinical and management practice. We are therefore proud to be involved in clinical research.
We are an RCGP accredited Research Ready GP Practice see their website for more information.
We are part of the Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD) which uses de-identified clinical data to inform research.
Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD) is a real-world research service supporting retrospective and prospective public health and clinical studies. CPRD is jointly sponsored by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency and the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), as part of the Department of Health and Social Care.
CPRD collects de-identified patient data from a network of GP practices across the UK. Primary care data are linked to a range of other health related data to provide a longitudinal, representative UK population health dataset. The data encompass 50 million patients, including 14 million currently registered patients.
We are involved with the NIHR local network https://local.nihr.ac.uk/lcrn/south-west-peninsula/
When we sign up to be part of any new research project involving patients or their data, there will be a process of data impact assessments and getting consent from any individual patients involved, however if you are concerned and do not want to share any more general anonymised data which could be extracted from your records, please let us know and we will opt you out.
Dr Stephen Jubb is the practice lead for clinical research.
